A Big Thank You
Following on from my request to all members, plenty of ideas and suggestions were received on how the course might be improved. Well now it’s time to sit down with those who can make some of these wishes come true. It will take time and in some cases money, but once again thanks to all who wrote in.

A Message From Our Captains
From Our Ladies’ Captain
Dear Members
Despite July being a damp and dreary month and the waterproofs being given a new lease of life, ladies were not deterred from playing some excellent golf.
Gill won the St Mellon’s Trophy and Jo and Roseanne were winners of the Crystal Bowl and Yvonne Reid respectively. Shirley was successful in winning the Rabbits Cup and Linda’s 39 points secured another weekly stableford first place voucher. Winning the Centenary Greensomes were Lynys and Lorrain with an excellent score of 39 points and they will represent St Mellons in the Wales Golf final at Carmarthen Golf Club in September. Jules continued her winning streak being successful in the Irene Strong, a County qualifier. Jules, along with Bev D and Alison will represent St Mellons in the County Finals at Monmouth Golf Club. Good Luck to all of the Ladies who are representing St Mellons in finals!
After a wet start to my Charity Day the sun shone, as did Bev Smith’s golf! Her 39 points gave her an emphatic win over the rest of the field, superb! Ladies enjoyed a glass of ‘Prosecco & Punch’ along with their round of golf, being mindful not to incur penalties in the bunkers and on the greens, however, some pin positions ensured that my Charity was actually the winner! I would like to thank the ladies for their very generous donations and for a lovely day.
Love is always in the air when playing the Cupid Cup! Winning the mixed event was Annie and her partner with an impressive 42 points and Glenys and her husband won the Cupid Cup with an excellent score of 38 points. Well done ladies!
The N2G ladies have now completed their first 6 weeks of coaching and are now looking forward to the next group of coaching sessions. Our junior girls continue to enjoy and improve their golfing skills, and with the summer holiday upon us, I look forward to seeing our younger members on the course.
Finally and sadly, we said goodbye to a dear friend, a much valued and treasured member of our ladies section, Sylvia. An honorary member of St Mellons Golf Club, Sylvia passed away at the end of June and she will always be missed. Her commitment and dedication to our club and the ladies’ section was evident over many years. Sylvia will always be fondly remembered.
