I am privileged to have been a long-standing member of St Mellons Golf Club having joined in 1993. Having represented the club on the golf course whilst playing for the seconds, thirds and wayfarers it is now time for me to represent my fellow members as a director.

I feel that St Mellons Golf Club has one of the best layouts in South Wales and feel I can help to push this forward to achieving the best course in South Wales using my considerable experiences having ran my own company since 1989.

Club Officials 7

Anthony Regan

Mens Captain

I’ve been a member at St Mellons for 24 years now, and it still feels like home every time I walk through the door.

I grew up in Cardiff, educated at St Illtyd’s College in Rumney, and spent my younger years playing rugby for Old Illtydians RFC and Sunday league football for South Vale. When running started getting the better of me, golf was the obvious answer — and I’ve never looked back!

By day I’m a Company Director in the manufacturing and construction industry, a role I’ve held since 1997. Outside of work, my wife Carolyn and I love travelling and socialising, though our six grandchildren keep us busier than we ever expected — not that we’d have it any other way!

I look forward to seeing you around the club.

Club Officials 8

Beverly Smith

Ladies Captain

It is both a pleasure and privilege to serve as Lady Captain of St Mellons Golf Club, 2026.

My background is steeped in sport, having competed for Wales and Great Britain in women’s artistic gymnastics. Towards the end of my competitive career I was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to study coaching in the USSR and USA, which enhanced my development as a national coach and international judge.

I have had an interesting, if eclectic professional career. After teaching PE, I worked as Development Director for Welsh Gymnastics, managed the Sport Development Unit at Cardiff County Council and gravitated back to academia as a Principal Lecturer and retired as Dean of Quality & Standards at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

I am a very proud mother of twin boys and grandmother to two talented and ever-busy grandchildren.

On the course, my golf is a work in progress but I am  looking forward to playing, and supporting the membership to the very best of my ability.
